Omar al-Mathhour who is influential in the city of Deir Ezzor died due to Coronavirus infection. Al-Mathhour belongs to the al-Hamad Ayed clan of the al-Baqara tribe.
Omar and his brother Firas are involved in corruption in Deir Ezzor, as they own the al-Mathhour Company for contracting. The company signs fake contracts with government directorates of the public sector.
