Today, Saturday, May 23, 2020, clashes broke out between the National Defense militia and a group of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia in Al-Mayadeen city east of Deir Ezzor, injuring five members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia, a source told Deir Ezzor 24 network.
The source noted that the reason for the clash was that elements of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia in Al-Mayadeen beat the son of the national defence militia commander in the city, Mohammad al-Tayseer, because of which the national defense attacked the Iranian Revolutionary Guard headquarters and clashed with them.
He also confirmed that the clashes involved the use of heavy weapons, including anti-aircraft guns, grenades and other weapons.
It is indicated that the situation in Al-Mayadeen city is still tense due to the dispute between the two militias, while some skirmishes are still going on until the moment.
