A large fire broke out today in agricultural lands in the southern countryside of Tal Tamr in Al-Hasakah Governorate, causing the flames to spread towards the main road linking Tal Tamr and the city of Al-Hasakah.
It caused a temporary traffic stop, while fire and emergency teams continued their operations to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to additional agricultural areas, in conjunction with working to reopen the road to traffic after securing the area.
In a similar incident, the village of Al-Shlash, affiliated with the Abu Khashab district in the northwestern countryside of Deir Ezzor, witnessed yesterday a widespread fire that consumed areas of agricultural land.
Firefighting teams headed to the site immediately after receiving the report, where they worked in cooperation with the residents to contain the fire and prevent it from reaching the neighboring homes and agricultural lands. The extinguishing operations continued for hours in light of the difficulties imposed by the nature of the area and the strong wind speed.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the residents’ participation in using agricultural machinery and primitive extinguishing methods contributed significantly to limiting the spread of the fire and controlling it.
