Deir Ezzor 24 exclusive
A few days ago, elders from Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside held a meeting with the area manager and some of the city’s security branches’ heads to discuss the people’s living conditions.
A source familiar with the details of the meeting confirmed that the elders complained about the checkpoints of the 4th Division in the vicinity of al-Mayadeen city in Deir ezzor countryside, especially al-Baloam neighborhood checkpoint located at the entrance of the city.
The elders called on the Assad regime’s intelligence services to stop the so-called custom duties imposed by the division elements on any material entering the city.
During the meeting, the elders also pointed out that the vegetables, fruits and food are expensive in Al-Mayadeen while in the villages around the city they are cheap, and this is because of the custom duties imposed on every thing enters the city.
The city’s security branches heads said that this matter is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defence, and they would inform the leadership of the need to solve the problem.
The area manager called on the elders to push the youths to return to the city and rebuild it, pledging to regularize the situation of those who had joined terrorist groups, as he said.
It is noteworthy that Al-Mayadeen has been witnessing a power struggle between the Assad’s forces and the National Defense Militia on the one hand, and the Iranian militias on the other, as each party seeks to dominate the city.
