The Assad militias organized the al-Furat Festival in the Street of Cinema Fu’ad, amidst ceremonies and dabkah. The festival used to be held in the Corniche Street.
By reviving “Cinema Fu’ad” street, the governor of Deir Ezzor seeks to convince civilians to return to their destroyed neighborhoods and homes that were looted by the “Assad” militias. The governor had recently issued a decision stipulating the transfer of shops from different areas in Deir Ezzor to “Cinema Fu’ad” street, in an unsuccessful attempt to motivate the people to rebuild and revitalize the area. The residents rejected the decision, as they asserted that the entire shops had become rubble due to the Assad war machine and the bombing, which destroyed the area.
