Assad regime security service branches arrested more than 100 farmers from the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside during a campaign they launched this morning on several areas of the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, according to Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent.
Our correspondent said that this morning, the military security and state security services as well as the criminal security branch launched a campaign of arrests in most villages of Deir Ezzor countryside, arresting more than 100 farmers. Most of the arrests occurred in Al-Ashara city and its countryside.
The correspondent said that the farmers were arrested on charges of abstaining from delivering wheat crops to Assad regime, and storing them instead. The members who participated in the campaign searched houses and warehouses of people, and stole some of their contents.
The case of the agricultural associations’ heads, who were detained more than a week ago because of the wheat issue, was referred to the department of public prosecutions. After the security branches’ campaign, Assad regime’s grain warehouses received more wheat deliveries from farmers.
