Thefts and lootings have recently increased significantly in the al-Khaboor area in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside, as some people were robbed.
Thieves robbed people’s money, precious jewelries, and mobiles under gunpoint in the Sikat al-Qitar area in the town of al-Takihi.
Unknown thieves stole telephone cables and power transistors in the village of Daman. Thieves also stole engines of irrigation and robbed shops in Daman.
A local source told Deir Ezzor 24 that a robbing incident resulted in the killing of a man and his wife, as robbers shot them because they did not stop.
The source added that the majority of robbers work under the cover of Daesh and threat and kill in the name of the organization. The source could not know if the robbers are really affiliated with Daesh or they just use Daesh as a cover.
Lootings and thefts are common in the area despite the Syrian Democratic Forces’ security campaigns and checkpoints.
