On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, a military convoy of the Liwa al-Quds militia entered the city of al-Mayadeen in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
The convoy included 100 fighters headed by Mahmoud Hamdawi and Imad Nayrab. The fighters mission is to enhance the militia’s outposts in al-Mayadeen badya.
The convoy entered al-Mayadeen after dozens of suspected Israeli airstrikes hit Assad forces’ and Iranian militias’ outposts, which suggests that the Russians knew about the airstrikes already, especially as they back the militia.
