Assad forces conducted today an arrest campaign in which they targeted several young civilians and employees in “the government departments” located in the Assad-regime held areas of Deir Ezzor in order to forcibly conscript them in their ranks.
D24 correspondent in Deir Ezzor said today that, “ Today, Assad forces patrols arrested several civilians and employees in the regime government departments situated in both Al-Joura and Al-Qusour neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city, as part of a new forced conscription campaign in the area.”
He added, “Mohamed Khadour, head of the committee of security in Deir Ezzor, recently issued a resolution imposing forced recruitment of employees in “the government departments” in Deir Ezzor, and warning that any employee who does not abide by this new rule will be dismissed from his job.”
The number of employees who have been forcibly recruited until now has reached 180 employees, most of whom used to work in the Agricultural Directorate and the factory of spinning in Deir Ezzor.
All the arrested civilians and employees are circulated to training camps where they are forced by Assad forces to undergo training sessions that last for several days before they are deployed to the front lines against Daesh in Deir Ezzor. Some of them are tasked with protecting and guarding the government buildings in the city.
The training sessions are not sufficient and the employees have no motives to fight for the regime; these reasons make them vulnerable to Daesh’s attacks, given the fact that the death of several of them, including children below the age of 18, have been documented.
It should be pointed out that the Assad-regime has also issued a statement in which it grants amnesty for some detainees in its jails in exchange for volunteering and fighting alongside Assad forces in Deir Ezzor.
