The systematic targeting of the bridges and routes in Deir Ezzor has destroyed the only highway used by civilians to move between Raqqa and Deir Ezzor- which is known as “the Aleppo highway”. It is considered as the most significant highway in the Eastern Region
The highway connects between the villages of Ayash and Al-Bughaliyah with other villages in the western countryside. It had been used by civilians to travel to Deir Ezzor city before the organization imposed the siege on the regime-controlled area in the city, restricting the usages of the road to places between the western countryside and Al-Raqqa.
The international coalition carried several aggressive air strikes on the Tarif Bridge, in the western countryside, reducing it to complete ruble. This has cut off the villages located east the bridge from the city of Al-Raqqa, increasing the suffering of civilians in the areas which included an increase in prices of food and other products that can hardly be obtained in the region.
Some civilians are using untreated roads, despite being exhausting, to transport their needs and products, while some are utilizing the simple crossing at the river for the transportation of their items. The situation is more complex and difficult during emergency cases.
The coalition has also conducted another strike on the same road, mainly in the village of Al-Shumaytiya, causing partial damages to it, which were fixed by Daesh.
