The city of Al-Asharah in the countryside of Deir Ezzor is witnessing a growing sense of discontent among residents due to the disturbing spread of trash and garbage in the streets. The situation has become a daily occurrence, impacting both the city’s overall appearance and its public health.
The problem is further exacerbated by some residents failing to dispose of their trash in designated areas, which disrupts efforts to collect it and leads to its accumulation in various spots throughout the neighborhoods.
In an exclusive interview with Deir Ezzor 24 Network, “Khaled Mousa Al-Mazid,” the head of Al-Asharah City Council, explained that the council is facing a severe shortage of vehicles and workers responsible for waste management. This shortage limits its ability to deal with the growing amounts of waste.
He added that the number of sanitation workers in the city does not exceed seven, which is insufficient compared to the required workload and the size of the city, leading to delays in waste collection and disposal operations.
Al-Mazid emphasized that the council is working within its available resources to improve the service situation, noting that improving the conditions requires cooperation from the residents, particularly in adhering to proper waste disposal practices. Additionally, there is a need for extra support to provide new vehicles and staff.
Under these circumstances, the residents of Al-Asharah are awaiting practical steps to restore order to the public services sector and bring back the city’s cleanliness and appearance, with hopes for improvement in the near future.
