US Central Command forces announced today that they carried out strikes against what they called a “weapons storage facility” and a “logistics headquarters” for an Iranian-backed militia.
The statement said that these strikes came in response to a rocket attack on US personnel at Al-Shaddadi base south of Hasakah.
He added that there was no damage to US facilities and no injuries to US forces or partners were recorded during the attack.
He pointed out that these strikes will degrade the ability of Iranian-backed groups to plan and launch future attacks on US and coalition forces present in the region to conduct operations to defeat ISIS.
General Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander of US Central Command, said: “We have made clear that attacks on US personnel, partner forces, and affiliated facilities will not be tolerated, and that we reserve the right to defend ourselves. US Central Command, along with our regional partners, will aggressively pursue any threat to US forces, allies, and partners and security in the region.”
It is worth noting that American raids targeted a headquarters of the Revolutionary Guard militia in the Al-Jama’iyyat neighborhood in the city of Al-Bukamal, after midnight last night, resulting in the killing and wounding of approximately 10 militia members.
