Today, Saturday, August 8, the United States of America recognized the anniversary of al-Shaitat massacre, which was carried out by Daesh against more than 1,000 members of al-Shaitat tribe in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside in 2018.
The U.S. Embassy in Damascus issued a statement recognizing the sixth anniversary of al-Shaitat massacre, and praising the role of al-Shaitat members in liberating Deir Ezzor areas from Daesh in 2018.
The statement reads:
“The United States solemnly recognizes the sixth anniversary of the massacre of the innocent people of the Shaitat tribe at the barbaric hands of Da’esh, as well as the sacrifices made by their people during their liberation from the terrorist organization in January 2018. The United States remains firmly committed to working with all of the people of Deir al Zour to bring security, prosperity, and stability to the region and to ensure that Da’esh never returns.”
