UNICEF, in cooperation with the Takatuf Youth Association and Mar Afram, has launched an awareness initiative under the slogan “Together… Our Euphrates is Safe.”
According to DeirEzzor24 Network, the initiative aims to promote safety and prevent drowning incidents in the eastern and western countryside and the city of Deir Ezzor.
Our correspondent reported that the initiative is part of a joint effort with several associations, organizations, and government bodies, including Civil Defense, Deir Ezzor City Council, the Directorate of Social Affairs, the Rabou’ Al-Furat Association, the Basmat Furatia Association, and the Fire Brigade.
He added that the initiative includes a series of educational activities, such as field visits to families in targeted areas, entertainment events for children, installation of guidance signs, and distribution of awareness leaflets on drowning prevention. These efforts will continue from the 10th to the 24th of this month, aiming to raise public awareness about the importance of taking preventive measures.
In a statement to DeirEzzor24 Network, Mohammad Al-Ghadeer, a volunteer with the Civil Defense team, affirmed that the initiative primarily aims to reduce drowning cases and mitigate risks threatening citizens’ lives. He added that the campaign reflects a spirit of cooperation and community solidarity in facing challenges and enhancing safety and security in the affected areas.
This initiative represents a remarkable model of joint work between official and community bodies, seeking to build a safer and more aware society, where collective efforts contribute to providing a healthy and secure environment for future generations.
