The city of Al-Mayadeen is witnessing an atmosphere of joy and happiness after the return of the only outlet for the people in the city’s desert, specifically near the Rahba Castle, which had been closed to them for a long time due to security conditions and military presence.
“Abdul Majeed Al-Malham”, a resident of the city of Al-Mayadeen, said, “The militias supported by Iran and Assad’s forces were hoping to approach the area, especially the Rahba Castle, which was converted into weapons warehouses.”
“Abu Aboud”, a resident of the city, said, “We visit this area that has been forbidden to approach for years, with caution and fear of mines and explosive devices.”
He added, “The concerned authorities and civil defense must remove the mines and educate the people about their danger. These remnants have become a real threat to the lives of the residents who are looking forward to enjoying nature and reliving their memories in this area.”
It is worth noting that many locations in the Deir Ezzor desert, including the Al-Rahba area and its surroundings, were planted with mines by Assad forces and Iranian-backed militias, which poses a great danger to the people of the region.
