The price of a bag of fertilizer (urea) has reached 375,000 Syrian pounds on the black market in the city of Deir Ezzor, with it being completely lost in the Agricultural Bank, according to the correspondent of DeirEzzor24 Network.
Our correspondent said that these fertilizers are sold in huge warehouses in the town of Al-Salihiya, north of Deir Ezzor, and the towns of Al-Shmaytiya and Buqrus, through Al-Katerji’s agent in the region, “Ghanim Al-Sudan.”
He added that the farmers’ need for fertilizer is increasing during this period due to its use of cotton crops that are being cultivated these days, in addition to the need for other summer crops of vegetables and yellow corn for fertilizers.
He pointed out that the fertilizers available in the market are of Iranian origin, and were smuggled in from the State of Iraq and others from the State of Serbia. They were entered according to contracts from the Assad government and were sold to the private sector.
The Russian company “Transstroy” controls the Homs fertilizer factory according to a long-term contract (49) years, and sells the material with special contracts to the “Al-Katirji” group and other companies.
