A leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia, “Haj Salman”, has sent a group of local and foreign militiamen on a mission to excavate and loot antiquities at Al-Salhiyah archaeological site in Al-Bukamal countryside east of Deir Ezzor, according to Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent.
The correspondent added that a group of about 20 members of the Revolutionary Guard militia led by “Haj Karrar” has begun excavating antiquities at Al-Salhiyah site for the benefit of the militia leadership.
It is worth mentioning that these excavations carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia in archaeological sites are considered to be sabotage of the sites, as they are carried out by non-specialists, which would lead to the destruction of the site, in addition to stealing its contents, that are a cultural heritage of Deir Ezzor.
