The Deir Ezzor Criminal Security Branch arrested the director and three employees of the Industrial Bank in the Al-Qusour neighborhood in the city of Deir Ezzor, on charges of starting a fire in the bank’s safe as an electrical short circuit, according to a DeirEzzor24 network local reporter.
Our reporter said that the fire led to the destruction of an amount of 4 million Syrian pounds, to cover up the embezzlement of an amount of 1 billion 250 million Syrian pounds. Those involved were arrested, namely the bank director, “Moeen,” the treasurer and his deputy, the employee “Hala,” and her brother, “Muhammad,” in addition to the bank’s financial auditor, “Maryam.”
It is noteworthy that the electric diamond is a narrative created by the Assad regime more than ten years ago to cover up crimes of embezzlement, burning banks, and targeting civilian and military sites.
