The General Security arrested an officer from the Air Force Intelligence Branch during the era of the defunct Assad regime, named “Imad Al-Ali”, in the city of Deir Ezzor.
“Al-Ali” held the position of investigator within the Intelligence Branch and has many violations on his record against Syrian civilians. He is accused of participating in the Houla massacre, which claimed the lives of 109 civilians, in addition to leading kidnappings and extortion operations against civilians, especially women, and demanding large sums of money in exchange for the release of the kidnapped, in addition to being accused of involvement in torture and killing of activists and revolutionaries during the Syrian revolution.
“Al-Ali” was referred to the judiciary amidst civil demands to impose the most severe penalties on him.
