DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
With the start of harvesting the cotton crop in areas controlled by the Assad regime in DeirEzzor, farmers began to suffer from several issues that made them anxious and foreshadowed a bad season.
The DeirEzzor24 network correspondent said that the problems range from high labor wages, high prices of tillage, seeds, fertilizer, pesticides, and the costs of harvesting the crop, in addition to the high prices of “agricultural paralysis” bags, high transportation costs, and fees for checkpoints and the fourth division.
It is noteworthy that the area cultivated with cotton is approximately 5,000 hectares, according to the agricultural plan of the Directorate of Agriculture, while production expectations did not exceed 100 kg per dunum, and do not cover its agricultural costs.
