The reluctance and reluctance of most of the farmers of Deir Ezzor province in the areas controlled by the Assad regime to plant the cotton crop, with the Agricultural Bank beginning to distribute cotton seeds of all kinds (basic and registered), according to what DeirEzzor24 network reporters monitored.
According to our reporters, the reason for the farmers’ reluctance to plant cotton is due to the high costs of its cultivation in general, including (the price of a bag of seed subsidized by the Bank is 150 thousand SP, the price of a bag of fertilizer subsidized by the Bank is 155 thousand SP, and the price of plowing one dunam is 75 thousand pounds, followed by the seed rent. And watering, which must exceed 5 irrigations at least, in addition to weeding (rakash) and control works whose medicines were described as invalid, harvesting the crop, the value of burlap sacks (shelol), marketing costs, and fines from the Agricultural Bank.
The cost of cultivating one dunam exceeds at least 800,000 Syrian pounds, while the price of a kilo of cotton for the Assad regime’s government has reached 3,500 Syrian pounds, subject to the assessment of mills, fees, and taxes.
