The Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Deir Ezzor conducted inspection tours of warehouses and markets yesterday, following multiple complaints concerning the quality of bottled drinking water available on the market.
More than 600 cartons of 1.5-liter bottles of the “Barada Water” brand were seized after samples were taken and tested in a laboratory. The results confirmed that the water was unfit for human consumption. The operation was carried out in cooperation with the Water Authority.
The Directorate urged citizens to exercise caution when purchasing bottled water from markets and called on the public to contact its official complaint hotlines if they notice any violations or come across products suspected to be unfit for use.
