The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested nine displaced young men from the western countryside of Deir Ezzor in the Al-Sahil camp south of Raqqa, placing them under house arrest inside the camp. The arrest was made on charges of planning to organize a protest against the SDF, according to a DeirEzzor24 network correspondent.
Our correspondent reported that among those arrested were Ahmad Al-Nasser from the town of Al-Tabni west of Deir Ezzor, along with his 20-year-old brother.
These arrests come after repeated demands by the youths to be allowed to return to their villages and towns in the western and eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor since the fall of the former regime.
The arrests took place after the youths allegedly threatened camp guards that they would leave and head toward their villages and towns, areas under Syrian government control by force. This led to their detention and transfer to the Abu Ghazaleh branch in Al-Tabqa city west of Raqqa.
