On February 14, 2021, a clash erupted between the Assad forces’ Republican Guards and a patrol of the National Defense militia in the Port Sa’eed street in the city of Deir Ezzor.
The clash erupted after the guards of the Republican Guards Academy in Port Sa;eed street prevented the ND’ patrol from entering the al-Maqabir area from the direction of the bus station. The clash followed an altercation between both sides.
The Russian Police intervened to stop the clash, as exchanging fire was heard all around Deir Ezzor city.
Such clashes are now freqeunt in the Assad regime-controlled areas of Deir Ezzor due to multiple militias whose commanders and laws are varied.
