The joint head of the Office for Displaced Persons and Refugees Affairs in what is known as «Self-Administration», Sheikhmus Ahmed, announced the start of procedures to evacuate the Roj camp in Al-Hasakah Governorate, which includes families linked to ISIS members.
Ahmed explained that the camp is still under the management of the «self-administration», noting that its security and service situation is stable.
He pointed out that the camp currently includes about 730 foreign families from about 42 countries, in addition to 15 Iraqi families and 11 Syrian families, bringing the total number of residents to about 2,225 people.
He explained that the evacuation process will take place in stages, as Syrian families will be transferred to their original areas based on the request of the Governor of Hasakah and the families of the camp residents.
He also pointed out that coordination has been made with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to return Iraqi families to their country, while communication will be made with the countries of origin of foreign families to return them according to the agreed frameworks and mechanisms.
