Road-paving work continues at full speed in the city of Deir Ezzor on the most damaged streets, carried out by the Directorate of Technical Services in the Al-‘Amal neighborhood inside the city, according to a DeirEzzor24 network correspondent.
Our correspondent said that the road near the stadium in the Al-‘Amal neighborhood of Deir Ezzor is currently being paved to rehabilitate it and fully restore it to service (both directions) by laying a new layer of asphalt.
In the western entrance, paving work is underway on the Al-Bughayliyya road, which is considered the city’s main artery connecting it to the western countryside and extending to the eastern Raqqa countryside (Shamiyah), as part of the “Deir al-‘Izz” campaign and under the supervision of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
At the southern entrance, paving work is being carried out by specialized teams under the supervision of the Deir Ezzor Governorate, also within the Deir al-‘Izz campaign. This process covers the Panorama Road all the way to the Al-Dallah Roundabout.
Drivers confirmed that none of the main roads in the center of Deir Ezzor have been paved for many years, and that they need to have the old asphalt layer removed and a new one laid, with no distinction between one street and another.
Some truck drivers and intercity drivers added that the Deir Ezzor–Damascus road urgently needs paving and widening starting from the Panorama area, and that it should be prioritized to remove the label “the death road” from it.
Residents in the city noted that all sewage networks must be repaired and inspected before paving begins, in order to avoid random digging in the future.
Residents also appealed for opening and repairing storm drains before heavy rains arrive, as the streets turn into swamps and pools of rainwater, which obstructs the movement of pedestrians first, then motorcycles and bicycles, and cars last
