The Military Police affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) deployed several checkpoints in the past hours on the Raqqa–Deir Ezzor road from both the Jazira and Shamiyah sides, according to DeirEzzor24’s correspondent.
Our correspondent reported that the SDF set up four checkpoints along the Jazira route, starting from the town of al-Karama east of Raqqa and extending to the town of Jazrat al-Buhmeid west of Deir Ezzor.
Five additional checkpoints were also established along the Shamiyah route on the Deir Ezzor–Raqqa road, starting from the town of al-Kasra south of Raqqa and reaching the town of al-Sabkha east of Raqqa, all set up by the SDF Military Police.
These measures aim to search for individuals wanted for mandatory military service (conscription) and arrest them while they travel between Raqqa and Deir Ezzor.
This has led many young men heading to Deir Ezzor for their studies to resort to smuggling routes to avoid passing through these checkpoints, which arrest them and send them to military service.
