The Al-Younani camp for displaced people, located south of the Euphrates River in the city of Raqqa, witnessed a state of partial drowning as a result of rising water levels, which led to damage to the tents of dozens of families amid fears that the situation will worsen in the coming hours.
A number of camp residents explained that water suddenly entered the tents, which forced the residents to evacuate the children and some property urgently, in the absence of any emergency intervention or emergency solutions to mitigate the effects of the disaster.
Residents confirmed that water quickly reached most parts of the camp, warning of the possibility of it being completely submerged if water levels continued to rise, and calling on the concerned authorities and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to protect the affected families.
For her part, displaced Warda Umm Yasser said that families are living in difficult humanitarian conditions with tents flooded and no means of protection or evacuation available, noting that children and women are the most affected by the current conditions.
The camp residents call on the relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to respond quickly and secure safer sites to house the affected families, before the humanitarian crisis in the area worsens.
