On the first day of Eid Al-Adha, Daesh prevented civilians from visiting the cemeteries which are located in Al-Bukamal city, Deir Ezzor’s eastern countryside.
Civilians in Deir Ezzor are accustomed in the morning of every Eid to visit their dead in cemeteries; however, since the organization captured the province in 2014, it has prevented them from visiting the graves under the pretence that visiting the graves is “an act of polytheism in God.”
The group has recently destroyed the grave markers in the main cemeteries in Al-Bukamal and other areas in the province. It has also blown up several shrines and tombs in rural Deir Ezzor, including Al-Sheikh Eissa, Abdel Qader Al-Rifai’ and Abdl Al-Allatif shrines in the Tel Bassira area.
