Exclusive:
On Sunday, June 13, a group of the National Defense Militia (NDF) in Deir Ezzor arrested the mayor of al-Duweir village in Al-Bukamal countryside eastern Deir Ezzor, and three men of the village in a massive raid it carried out in the village, according to Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent.
Our correspondent added that the militia raided the village after 16 NDF members defected from the militia with their weapons and escaped to the SDF-held areas on the other bank east of the Euphrates River. This provoked the anger of the NDF leadership, which ordered a raid on the village.
The correspondent said that the militia gave the fugitives’ families a short time to return the weapons or pay their price, otherwise they would face very harsh punishment.
During the raid, the NDF militia members insulted the people of al-Duweir village, including women, as a retaliation against their sons’ defection.
