Motorcycles have become an additional concern for the residents of Deir Ezzor city, due to the annoying sounds and road problems caused by motorcycle drivers, according to a Deir Ezzor 24 correspondent.

Our correspondent said that the motorcycle drivers in Deir Ezzor are under 18 years old, and the residents demanded through the Deir Ezzor 24 network that the traffic department and the concerned authorities allocate a specific age for driving a motorcycle and license it in Deir Ezzor city to reduce this phenomenon.

He added that three serious accidents were recorded in the workers and employees neighborhood in Deir Ezzor city for young people under 20 years old while driving motorcycles at high speeds, according to the management of the National Hospital in Deir Ezzor.

He stressed that motorcycles are a source of livelihood for many families due to their use as a basic and inexpensive means of transportation, but their inappropriate use by young people led to demands for the enactment of strict laws for driving them.

Some young men use motorcycles for transportation and delivery at symbolic prices as an alternative to cars and taxis due to the low transportation fares and the high taxi fares.

Ayman Al-Aboush, a motorcycle driver, said that it is a basic and daily source of income for his family and he uses it to transport passengers and meet their needs as an alternative to cars for 7 to 8 thousand Syrian pounds per ride.

The taxi fare within the neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city ranges between 15 to 20 thousand and is subject to increase depending on the destination due to the high prices of car parts and maintenance.
