On Friday, the International Coalition arrested a Daesh commander known as Abu Ali in a house in the town of Muheimidah, western Deir Ezzor. The commander is from the town of Al-Merayiah and lives in a house near al-Salam Hospital in Muheimidah, and owns a mobile phones shop.
The coalition arrested the commander in an airdrop with the participation of four helicopters and two warplanes. The airdrop lasted two hours, before the warplanes destroyed the house; however the coalition transported the commander to an unknown destination.
The coalition arrested the commander ten days after they and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) conducted an operation in the village of Tuwaimin southeastern al-Hasakah. During the operation, the coalition arrested eight people on charges of cooperating with Daesh.
Over the recent months, the coalition launched raids, inspection, and arrest campaigns against Daesh cells in al-Raqqa, al-Hasakah, and Deir Ezzor. It is said that Daesh activities are increasing in the area.
Despite the SDF and the coalition intensified security campaigns, assassinations and attacks on the SDF and coalition forces’ outposts are conducted on a semi-daily basis in the aforementioned governorates.
