Daesh mortar shells continue to fall directly on civilians buildings located in the besieged neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor, killing and wounding several of them on a regular basis, without making any significant change on the military level against the Assad forces. The trapped civilians remain the only victims.
Over the past two days, Daesh has intensively shelled Al-Joura and Al-Qusour neighborhoods, utilizing mortar. A local source in besieged Deir Ezzor has said that, “the number of Daesh mortar shells, which landed on the besieged neighborhoods yesterday, rose to 25 shells. The shelling was concentrated on Al-Joura neighborhood, where some of the shells landed in the public street, Al-Wadi Street and the central prison.”
Daesh indiscriminate mortar attack target mainly domesticated areas. Three civilians, including a child; have been killed over the past two days after Daesh mortar shells fell directly on their homes.
Daesh fighters positioned in Al-Janinah and Hatlah are the ones tasked with firing mortar at the besieged neighborhoods, which is always met with Assad-regime warplanes conducting air strikes on the villages, causing civilian causalities and forcing many of them to flee and take refuge elsewhere.
Daesh mortar shelling on the besieged areas comes in connection with a high-sky increase in food prices for unknown reasons after they had decreased earlier this month following the distribution of humanitarian food aid to trapped civilians in the city.
