The Directorate of Agricultural Production Support in Deir Ezzor, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), carried out a field study that covered the city of Mohassan and the towns of Al-Boleel, Al-Bu‘Amr, and Al-Mayadin, with the aim of assessing the reality of the agricultural and livestock sectors in the eastern countryside of the province.
The study team examined the conditions of livestock in terms of their numbers and types, as well as the health issues they face. It also reviewed the situation of animal feed, including its prices and availability. The study further assessed the state of crop agriculture by monitoring key crops, the efficiency of irrigation methods, and the degree of adoption of modern agricultural technologies.
The study also included an analysis of the dietary patterns of the local population and how these patterns relate to the region’s economic and living conditions, helping to build a comprehensive understanding for improving livelihoods.
These efforts come as part of a joint plan between the local authority and FAO aimed at strengthening agricultural production and enhancing the efficiency of natural resources, ultimately contributing to sustainable development that positively impacts the lives of residents in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
