Dozens of families who had been displaced have returned to their homes in the Al-Muwazafin neighborhood in the center of Deir Ezzor city over the past few days, according to observations by the DeirEzzor24 Network.
Our correspondent reported that the returning families had been living in the cities of Raqqa, Al-Bab, and Azaz in eastern Aleppo and have now returned to their original homes.
Abdul Karim Al-Mousa, a resident of Al-Muwazafin, told DeirEzzor24 that they had left Deir Ezzor in 2015 and returned just a few days ago after renovating their house over the past few months.
He added that he has started setting up a shop on Al-Hawd Street in the city, where he plans to settle again after years of displacement.
These families had previously rented out their homes, as they had not been destroyed, and have now returned after the fall of the former regime. Meanwhile, some families have begun renovating their damaged homes in preparation for their return.
Al-Muwazafin is considered one of the largest neighborhoods in Deir Ezzor, and most of its houses sustained partial damage during the war.
