Expanded vaccination campaign against measles, rubella and polio in Raqqa

Today, an expanded vaccination campaign was launched in Raqqa Governorate to prevent measles,  rubella , and polio, targeting children from one day to five years old, and continuing for ten days.

The head of the Primary Health Care Department, Dr. Adnan Al-Ahmed, explained that the campaign was launched from comprehensive clinics and is being implemented through 17 fixed health centers and 64 mobile medical teams, with the aim of reaching various targeted points and areas.

Al-Ahmed explained that the measles and rubella vaccine is given to children from seven months to five years old, while the oral polio vaccine is given to children from one day old to five years old, noting that the implementation of the campaign has now begun in the city’s health zone, and will extend to the rest of the areas successively.

Health authorities confirm that the vaccines approved within the campaign are safe, effective and completely free, explaining that a mild cold or a slight rise in temperature does not constitute a health obstacle to receiving the vaccine.

Health authorities called on parents to take their children to the nearest fixed health center or mobile medical team to benefit from the campaign, and to bring a health card, if any, in a way that contributes to monitoring children’s doses and enhancing their protection from targeted diseases.
