Private sources told D24 that Daesh executed on Monday ‘Omar Al-Qahtani’, also known as Abu Bakar Al-Qahtani, who served as the general Shari of Daesh. The execution was carried out in the city of Al-Mayadeen in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
The sources stated that the organization has not revealed the motives behind the execution, adding that it could be related to planning a coup against the organization amid the setbacks it has suffered in different areas in Syria and Iraq.
The sources believe that the one who issued the execution was ‘Omar Al-Qahtani’, who is a member of the Hazimi group within Daesh that are notorious for their extremism. Al-Qahtani was the first to declare all opposition factions as non-believers, which justified the fight against them in 2013.
It is known that the organization has taken a heavy toll recently, mainly in Mosul which was one of its main strongholds. The ongoing battles in Al-Raqqa show clearly that the SDF and opposition factions are making substantial gains for they have captured large parts of the city.
Daesh is getting prepared for the upcoming big battle in the province of Deir Ezzor by containing any internal division, public or secret defection from its ranks. Hundreds of Daesh fighters, including Arab and foreign affiliates and commanders, have recently fled from the group held territory.
