Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent said that elements of the 4th Division, are imposing huge amounts of money on the people of Deir Ezzor to allow them to cross from the areas controlled by Assad forces (west of the Euphrates) to the areas controlled by the SDF (east of the Euphrates).
The elements are facilitating the entry of those who want to cross to the other side through the illegal river crossings on the Euphrates River.
According to our correspondent, elements of Assad’s forces’ checkpoints in Al-Salhiyah town north of Deir Ezzor are also imposing taxes on those who want to pass through the crossings.
In the same context, several houses in villages and towns of the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside (west of the Euphrates) were looted by members of Assad’s forces and their militias, who took advantage of the curfew imposed by Assad regime due to the spread of the Coronavirus. And most of the looting operations took place in the towns of Buqruss, Saalo and al-Zabari east of Deir Ezzor.
It is indicated that Assad’s forces have been controlling the western Euphrates region in Deir Ezzor since late 2017, and the region has been witnessing thefts and lootings of civilian property by Assad’s forces since then without any accountability from Assad regime.
