Large crowd of civilians are pushed to queue near the ovens in besieged Deir Ezzor, as most of the bakeries, which have not been supplied with enough fuel by Assad forces, do not cover the civilian needs, extending the bread crisis to even further levels.

Receiving small amounts of flour, estimated at one ton and a half, by Assad forces, each bakery in besieged Deir Ezzor has the ability to function for less than three hours only, producing insufficient amounts of bread, which do not meet the besieged civilians’ needs. The lucky families can get twenty loaves of bread at 200 Syrian Lira, which also remains inadequate.

Following the orders issued by the regime yesterday, the bakeries sold just 15 loaves of bread to desperate civilians waiting in huge crowds, indicating that the Assad-regime is in a situation where it lacks all standards of a government, as it is unable to provide civilians in its held territory with human basic needs such as bread. Worst of all, instead of looking for practical solutions to end the bread crisis, Assad forces have resorted to manipulation and deception that have worsened the deplorable situation in the besieged areas.

Impoverished civilians in besieged Deir Ezzor cannot also afford to purchase basic food items available at the markets due to a high-sky increase in their prices.
