Well-informed sources told the Deir Ezzor 24 Network that the Commander of the National Defense (ND) militia in Deir Ezzor Firas al-Jiham, who is known as Firas al-Iraqiya purchases real estates and vast agricultural lands in the city of Deir Ezzor from civilians wanting to leave for Northern Syria due to deteriorated economic and life conditions n the area and their inability to provide the minimum means of life for their families.
The sources added that al-Iraqya purchases the real estate to build a private hospital in the Al-Jourah neighborhood that is crowded and contains the al-Wadi Street which includes the sole market of the city.
Al-Iraqiya is one of the influential and the arms of the Assad regime in the area. Recently, the first delegate of the Russian Hmeimim base honored al-Iraqiya with a heroine medal sealed with the Russian Defense Ministry signature for his role in suppressing the Syrian Revolution. Al-Iraqiya was also known for his mobilization for the elections of “Bashar al-Assad” and for holding clan celebrations bearing manifestations of loyalty to him.
