On Friday, February 19, 2021, the Assad forces’ 4th Division members arrested two truck drivers at the al-Panorama checkpoint, southern the city of Deir Ezzor. The trucks transported looted materials.
The members beat the drivers because they refused to pay money. The 4th Division members at the checkpoint impose fees on trucks entering and leaving Deir Ezzor. The fees of a truck of looted materials reaches 500,000 Syrian pounds.
Looting is usually conducted in cooperation between traders, militias, and members at checkpoints; however, this time the members were not coordinated with or paid, hence they arrested the drivers and seized the trucks.
