DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
Preliminary data indicate with the beginning of the wheat harvest a season that portends failure in the areas controlled by the Assad regime, and its success in the areas controlled by the SDF in Deir Ezzor.
The correspondent of Deir Ezzor 24 Network said that one of the silos in the Autonomous Administration-controlled areas of Deir Ezzor was closed due to its fullness, while the three-row queue of wheat trucks at the silos (10 km) in the Ezba area north of Deir Ezzor exceeded a distance of 3 km due to the success of the rain-fed agriculture “Al-Athi” in the Jazira desert (east of the Euphrates) as a result of the recent rains.
He added that the production per hectare ranged between 4 to 20 bags of wheat, while the production of one dunam of French, German and American wheat types “Admiral” and the “Douma” variety ranged between 4 to 6 bags of wheat weighing 100 kg.
As for the areas under the control of the Assad regime, there were no rain-fed cultivated areas, and the season was limited to irrigated agriculture, whose production ranged from 1 to 3 bags of wheat, while the price of hay did not compensate for the loss of farmers, as its price was low to 150 Syrian pounds per kilo and 15 thousand Syrian pounds for the production of one bag ( Shawwal section).
The Assad regime issued a price of wheat at 2,500 SP, in addition to 300 marketing rewards subject to all taxes and deductions, while the Autonomous Administration raised its price to 43 US cents per kilo, equivalent to 3,800 Syrian pounds.
