DeirEzzor24 exclusive report :
Al-Sheyab Checkpoint is located on the Al-Marayyah road connecting the main road to the Russian bridge. It belongs to the Republican Guard. It consists of 12 men over the age of 60, who live in a house located on the eastern side of the road.
They built a building, roofed with tutus sheets, containing a fireplace inside of which they roll smoke and hashish. They wear dirty military uniforms, and do not interfere with pedestrians or cars. They make a living from selling household supplies, electrical tools, auto parts, and agricultural engines, which they obtained from looting town houses.
For a while, the people noticed the disappearance of the checkpoint and its operatives, and it turned out later that they were former prisoners in Homs Central Prison, on charges of drug trafficking and drug use.
The Assad regime has been known for its similar policy since the beginning of the events, in which criminals and extremists were released from Sednaya prison and exploited for its benefit.
