The Deir Ezzor network monitored civilians’ dissatisfaction with the Assad forces members at the Panorama checkpoint, as they blackmail passers-by and loot their property in exchange for sums of money, in light of the high prices and the poor life conditions the civilians suffer due to in the area.
The sources noted that the checkpoint members are deliberately harming civilians, as they wait three hours or more for inspection, impose royalties and customs and take bribes, while they accuse the people of other areas of fleeing to the Syrian Democratic Forces-controlled areas under penalty of extortion or arrest.
The members of the Panorama checkpoint are stationed on the Deir Ezzor-Damascus highway and are affiliated with the Assad forces’ 4th Division , and they deliberately harass the people, loot them, and restrict their entry and exit.
