The Deir Ezzor 24 Network spotted that coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads significantly among the residents of the city of Deir Ezzor and nearby cities. In recent days, seven deaths and dozens of infections have been recorded in the city of Sabikhan, amidst concerned authorities’ negligence of the medical sector in the governorate.
The Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF)’ Commandership issued decisions that coincided with Covid-19 spread, to prevent the virus from spreading in the SDF military headquarters and outposts, under the penalty of accountability. Such decisions included stopping fighters’ leaves for 20 days, banning visits, and banning receiving civilians in military headquarters for 20 days. The commandership also issued a decision to account those who are responsible for any fighter that could be infected by Covid-19 because the commandership is responsible for the fighters’ safety.
The residents of the Deir Ezzor governorate, its countryside, and the surrounding towns suffer due to a crisis in the health situation and a shortage of medical staff and medicines, amid the officials’ neglect of this.
