Daas Daas, a retired brigadier general and former head of the State Security branch in Deir Ezzor, visited the provincial building in Deir Ezzor.

According to eyewitnesses, Daas came to take his cut from the wheat crops for irrigating the third sector between al-Merayiah and Buqruss town. He was seen with Khazan al-Sahou, the head of the farmers union.

Daas was one of the first officers of Assad regime who suppressed the demonstrations at the beginning of the Syrian revolution. He is accused of committing war crimes and arresting thousands of young people. He also made a lot of money by controlling an oil well near al-Assad Hospital. He sold oil for his own interest between 2014 and 2017 as he and powerful figures had a burner (primitive oil refinery).
