Assad’s forces and allied militias have carried out a massive campaign of arrest targeting civilians in the besieged neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city.
For the second day in a row, Assad’s forces have arrested many young males in Al-Joura, Al-Qusour and Al-Muwadafine neighborhoods, which was coordinated with patrols from the military security branches and the military police. They raided civilian gathering, ovens, and markets, establishing many check posts in those neighborhoods and arresting those below the age of 42 to be used a military reserve.
The campaign has also targeted employees of government-run institutions, as many of them have been arrested in their offices and transported to Brigade 137.
This is not the first campaign of arrest being carried out in Assad-held pocket of Deir Ezzor since many have preceded it during which people were forced to fight for Assad on the frontlines against Daesh in the province.
