Dozens of civilians were killed and several others were wounded yesterday when aircraft, believed to have been Russian aircraft, struck the river crossing in the Baghuz town, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
A D24 said that, ‘ More than 15 civilians were killed, and dozens of others were badly injured, due to the airstrikes on the civilian gathering at the river crossing in the Baghuz town, in eastern Deir Ezzor, adding that the death toll could increase because the wounded are still in a critical condition.’
He added, ‘ Some of the dead bodies are still in the targeted area because the aircraft have been bombing the targeted area with several air raids to the very moment. Some of the dead are displaced families from Iraq. In addition, all the river crossing in the region have been knocked out of commission, in addition to the destruction of many river barges’
The towns and villages in the Shamiyah area of Deir Ezzor province are witnessing a large-scale wave of displacement in which the displaced are reliant on river barges to cross towards the areas in the Jazzera area.
