The SDF announced that they are besieging the remaining elements of Daesh in Deir Ezzor in an area of 600-700 square meters.
The announcement was made by the commander of Al Jazeera Storm campaign “Jia Furat” at a news conference in Al-Omar oil field in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
Jia Furat said:
“We are advancing cautiously, and we were forced to slow our campaign as there were a lot of civilians used by Daesh as human shields, and we are trying to keep them safe.”
He added:
“We have elements prisoned by Daesh mercenaries and we were able to liberate 10 of them, and we freed thousands of civilians through safe passages and provided assistance to them.
He continued:
“The defeat of Daesh will not take more than a few days, and we will soon announce a great news to the people of the region and the world.”
He concluded saying:
“We will continue our struggle against Daesh sleeper cells .”
It is indicated that Al-Jazeera storm is a military campaign launched by the SDF in the ninth month of 2017 against Daesh in Deir Ezzor under the command of Ahmed Abu Khawla, who was removed later by the SDF and “Jia Furat” was appointed instead of him as a new commander of the campaign.
