Daesh attacked a military bus on the al-Sukhna-Deir Ezzor highway, killing 13 members of the Assad forces’ 4th Division members. The attack is not the first to occur in the area.
Daesh members operate in the Deir Ezzor desert and its perimeter, as they take refuge in caves and remote desert places. This allows Daesh to ambush Assad militias. Daesh aims at pressuring the Assad militias on the financial and morale levels, as Daesh tries not to lose members during the attacks.
The current situation forces Daesh members to hide; however, their well experiencing the geography of the desert facilitates their hiding.
